The Flies Are Here

We are in the midst of fly season. Large flies and small flies are known to spread bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella, which can cause foodborne illness (food poisoning). If there numerous flies inside your business, customers may be disgusted and customer complaints can lead to a health inspector visit. Upkeep of outside areas can reduce the change of an infection occuring inside.

Large filth flies typically accumulate around decaying garbage. Dumpster areas are a perfect source for food and breeding.  

  • Keep the dumpster and surrounding area clean.

  • Keep exterior doors closed

  • Install air fans over exterior doors and exterior service windows.

Small flies are typically associated with sanitation issues inside. Decaying food debris under and behind equipment is the perfect source for food and breeding.

  • Clean spills immediately

  • Develop and utilize a drain cleaning program

  • Check incoming produce for infestations and damaged

  • Check stored produce for infestation and damaged

  • Remove water and debris from around and behind equipment
